Protect your Brand with a Trademark.

Trademark Filing Mistakes

I see many Nigerian entrepreneurs posting their CAC certificates on IG

thinking that they’ve secured their dream name!

The truth is:

CAC Registration only gives you the right to do business in Nigeria

If you want to stop copycats from using your dream name, what you need is a Trademark!

A Trademark gives you exclusive ownership over your brand name (in your industry/niche)

so that NOBODY else in Nigeria, can USE YOUR NAME (or something similar) to make money.

PROTECT YOUR BRAND WITH A TRADEMARK!

This is our most requested service and the reason is not far-fetched!

Just like CofO gives you ownership of Land, a trademark gives you ownership of your Brand.

This means you can stop any brand copycat from using your name to make sales.

What aspect of your business should you trademark?

You should trademark anything that your customers use to identify your business / your products / your services in your NICHE!
So that’s your:

Here’s what you may not realize:

Brand copycats are everywhere (especially online) looking for whose brand to copy and make money from.

Without a trademark, everything you’re working hard to build can be used to make money with one click.

Do you know the worst part?

Because Trademarks are intangible assets (meaning anyone can come up with the idea for the name)

it’s the first person to register the trademark that can legally claim ownership of the name.

So, if you’re building a business, promoting it heavily online but you’re postponing getting a trademark,

a brand copycat can easily come across your business, see the value in what you’re building, file a trademark, get ownership of the name, and STOP you from using it, even if you’ve been using it for years!

I’m sure you don’t want that happening to you.

PS: The more attractive your brand is, the more it is likely to be copied!

Trademark law recognizes that you’re building your business, providing quality products/services, and you’re making a name for yourself in your industry.

That reputation you’re building is linked with your name and it’s this reputational value that trademark law seeks to protect for you.

So that someone else should not be allowed to put your name or logo on their product or service and claim the benefit of your hard work.

FAQs

A registered trademark gives you exclusive right of ownership over your brand (name & logo) so that no other person in your niche/industry/line of business can use your name (or something very similar) to promote their own products or services.

A trademark is also a valuable asset if you ever decide to sell your business.

With a registered trademark you can enforce your rights of ownership if someone else tries to use your brand name without your permission.

The time frame can depend on a variety of factors, including the complexity of your trademark and any issues that may arise during the review process.

However, typically the process up to receiving your acceptance letter takes about 1 month.

Our trademark filing service costs N249,000.

PS: This fee relates to payment for 1 trademark application in 1 trademark classification / industry.

Law is jurisdictional i.e. applies within a specific geographical location(country).

So, a trademark filed in Nigeria secures your brand name & logo so that no other person “in Nigeria” can use your name for a similar product/service.

If your business operates in other countries, you need to file trademark there too.
